- קָרַש(cmp. קָרַס) (to be joined, v. קֶרֶש I, to become solid, congeal, contract. Gen. R. s. 4; Y.Ber.I, 2c bot. ובשני קָרְשוּ, v. לַח. Ib. יִקְרַש הרקיע let the heavens congeal. Gen. R. s. 33 עמודים … בצנה שלא יִקְרְשוּ marble columns covered with carpets in the winter, lest they contract (and crack), v. קָרַס. Pes.V, 5 ויקרש הדם and the blood may congeal; a. fr.Part. pass. קָרוּש. Y.Nidd.III, beg.50c דם הוא שהוא ק׳וכ׳ it is blood which congealed and formed a lump. Y.Sabb.II, 4d כל שמתיכין אותו ואינו ק׳ whatever you melt, and it becomes not solid again. Succ.12a יין ק׳ הוא משנירוכ׳ it means a jelly of wine from Senir that resembles fig cakes. Hif. הִקְרִיש to cause to congeal. Tosef.Ḥull.VI, 7 השוחט וה׳וכ׳ (ed. Zuck. והקדיש, corr. acc.) if one slaughters and allows the blood to congeal.
